Post 6: English Language Challenges.

Imagen
Hello bloggers, I must say that the course was not very pleasant for me, mainly because the base of my English is not very good, added to the fact that I moved from the city and it was difficult for me to follow the course. However, it is something I am bound to go through sooner or later. Regarding the use of blogs, I find it hard to understand how it turns out to be something educational and stimulating for learning the English language. I can get the idea, but I also think that there may be more stimulating, didactic and intensive ways of learning to use words. The most difficult aspect of the English language for me is, in general, to communicate something. I am able to understand better what they say or write to me than doing it in front of another person. Although I'm not saying I'm very good at understanding, I'm worse at expressing. I find it difficult to formulate sentences grammatically and orally, which I must develop step by step. Outside of English classes I tr...

Post 4: Time travel in the future.

Imagen
Hello everyone today's topic is about a time I like travel in the future. Honestly if I think about the future I don't really know what to expect but I think I want travel to the time when goverments push serious plans to control the climate crisis. I hope that happens in the near future. I don't have positive expectations regarding the climate crisis, since it has already been shown that the consumption of resources by human beings exceeds what the planet can offer us.  However, I hope that the most important authorities on the planet agree to face climate change that has been accelerated by human activity. I believe that the regulation of industrial production in favor of nature and not so much of the accumulation of wealth can be a starting point for the authorities to stop the crisis. I hope that in the future this important and deep cultural change is achieved that is required if we want to continue living on this planet as a species and not harm other living beings. S...

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog.  First of all, before the psu I didn't have a idea abput what to study. I only knew I liked read history and social sciences, but I was not sure about what I wanted. After psu I still had no idea to study, but I felt I had follow the way of sociology because I was ever see to my mates and tried create answers about relations comed they.    Now in Sociology career I realised I like investigation and analysis. So in my future I visualized myself like an investigator, because I like talking about different theories to be applied to  reality. I do not have big expectations about life, I only want to be happy and I think to do investigation is a step to reach happiness. I liked to contribute in my natal city than is Aysén. Is a very isolated place and I think must be intervened to improve.

Tell us about a subject you enjoy studying.

Hello everyone, this time I will talk to you about a topic that I like to study. The topic I enjoy studying is research, both qualitative and quantitative. Very briefly, in quantitative research we see those topics that are dealt with numerically, while in qualitative research we see those that are not. I enjoy it because it makes me imagine issues and problems of society to investigate, and the best thing is that it gives me the tools to be able to address such issues. I have learned information production techniques, information analysis, sampling, coding, theoretical framework design, methodological design, among other things. Before studying it, I thought it would be boring and very structured, but then I noticed that, although it is quite structured, there are issues that are modified during the march. Bye!

A person I admire.

Hello everyone, this time I want to talk about a person that I admire. In the field of sociology there are many referents, great thinkers, researchers, etc. This year in theory we have seen the work of Pierre Bourdieu, which I found very interesting. Pierre Bourdieu was born in 1930 in Paris and died in January 2002. He was a teacher in France and Algeria. His work focused on the sociology of culture, education, the media, and lifestyles. Bourdieu's contribution to sociology, which I consider most relevant and interesting, is his theory of habitus. His work is not reduced only to that, but it is what I handle the most about him. He made contributions relating culture, gender, power, politics, types of capital, and other things that occur in society. I admire this person because he managed to develop a highly referenced, studied and busy theory from his ethnographic works. I also like that you can analyze everyday situations, things not so macrosocial, thanks to his habitus theory. ...

How Can Your Major Make the World a Better Place?

Imagen
Hello, this time I will talk about how my career can help the world to be a better place. First of all, I think it is essential to have a notion, idea or definition of what it means to make the world a "better" place. Better for whom? According to what parameters? Who are we going to lead in this task? I believe that sociology prepares you as a professional to face such questions, and therefore I believe that it can be an important tool to change the world (trying to make it a change for the better). Personally, I see myself intervening at the local, population level, in my region, in Aysén, with projects that guarantee a paradigm shift in people's actions. The broad conceptual baggage that is acquired from sociology and the tools to create new concepts, together with the impact on everyday life situations in various contexts is the greatest virtue of sociology. It serves to understand from different perspectives the why of certain situations, the different configurations...

A photo and its story.

Imagen
Hello everyone and welcome to a new blog. This time I am going to tell you about this photo. In this photo I am with two friends, going to the summit. For me it means everything we've been through the 10 years we've known each other. I am interested because what we are doing there is something that I am passionate about, and doing it with people who share the same interests makes it more enjoyable. This photo occurs a few months ago, in Puerto Aysén, where we had met another group of mountaineers who were also going to summit. In a way we were celebrating because we weren't feeling tired and we had done it fast enough for winter, in addition to the weight of the backpacks. At that moment we stopped to eat and then continue, it was comforting to feel the taste of the food.
